 Minister of Defense prof. Milica Pejanovic-Djurisic, Ph.D

Milica Pejanovic-Djurisic was born on 27 April 1959. in Niksic. After graduating from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Podgorica, she obtained a Master’s degree and a PhD in Telecommunications in 1987, from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade. For the results achieved during her studies she received an award from the University of Montenegro, as well as the CANU award from the Petar Vukčević Fund, and the award 19. decembar. She speaks English, French and Italian. Married and has two sons, Ivan and Luka.

As of October 1982. she worked at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Montenegro, as a Teaching Assistant in Telecommunications and Electronics. Later on, in June 1988, she received the academic title of Assistant Professor, and in April 1994, the title of Associate Professor. She became a Full Professor of disciplines in the field of Telecommunications in December 1998. She also acted as a Vice-Dean of Academic Affairs and the President of the Council of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Podgorica.

As a visiting researcher and lecturer, Professor Pejanovic-Djurisic stayed at numerous foreign universities and research centers: the University of Birmingham, UK; University of Aalborg, Denmark; University Tor Vergata, Rome; Padua University; University of Birmingham, Alabama, USA; University of Nice Sophia Antipolis; University of Gent, Belgium; SSGRR High School of Telecommunications, L'Aquilla, Italy; CERN, Switzerland; University of Technology and Economics in Budapest, Hungary; University of Liverpool, UK. In her research, Professor Pejanović-Đurišić focused on the area of ​​mobile radio communications, where she achieved outstanding results that have been presented in over 200 scientific papers in international journals and conferences, as well as more than 90 scientific papers in national journals and conferences. She is a member of professional associations of IEEE, IEICE, the Telecommunications Society of Serbia and Montenegro, as well as a member of the Programme Committee of TELFOR, TELSIKS and the Chairperson of the INFOFEST Expert Committee.

Professor Pejanovic-Djurisic is also an expert of the ITU (International Telecommunication Union), the UN Organization based in Geneva, where she is engaged in prcjects in the field of mobile radio systems of new generation and implementation of Internet technologies. She gained significant experience working as a consultant in industrial companies in mobile communications, as evaluator in FP6 and FP7 projects of the European Commission and as a member of global professional associations and initiatives in the field of information-communication technologies. She also served as the President of the Management Board of Telekom of Montenegro (1999 - 2002), and as the President of the Board of Directors of the first Montenegrin Internet provider.

The social and political engagement of Professor Pejanovic-Djurisic includes the following major activities:

-She became a Member of the Presidency of the Republic of Montenegro in the first direct elections in 1990. and stayed in office until the end of 1992.

-A Member of Parliament of the Republic of Montenegro in the period from 1992. to 2001.

-Vice-President of the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro from 1992. to 1997.

-President of the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro from June 1997 to October 1998.

-Ambassador of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro from 2004. to 2006. in Brussels.

-Ambassador of Montenegro to France, the Principality of Monaco and UNESCO from 2007. to 2010.

Appointed as the Minister of Defense in the Government of Montenegro on 13 March 2012.
