First Half-annual meeting for military-diplomatic representatives accredited in Montenegro after full-fledged membership in NATO

The first half-annual meeting for military-diplomatic representatives accredited in Montenegro, after full-fledged membership in NATO, was held in the Ministry of Defence of Montenegro today, in the capacity of the Ally.

"As a member of the Alliance, we will strongly propagate NATO's open door policy, convinced that the entire region's future lies within the NATO and EU structures, as the integrated region is the only guarantee of long-term stability and security of the Western Balkans," said Defence Minister Predrag Bošković, in an introductory address to the military-diplomatic representatives. The Minister pointed out that the defence sector of Montenegro is fully dedicated to the continuous development and progress through modernization, equipping and training, as well as fulfilling the tasks and obligations arising from the NATO agenda in order to ensure global and regional security, and securing a safe environment for our citizens.

Director of the Directorate for Defence Policy, Mr. Ivica Ivanović, expressed gratitude to the current allies and partners for the support provided during the integration process of Montenegro. Director Ivanović informed the military-diplomatic representatives with the activities of the Ministry that are currently in the focus, and presented the plans for the forthcoming period, referring to Montenegro's continued commitment to fostering excellent cooperation and open relations, as well as its willingness to provide its full support to the countries aspiring the membership in NATO.

Representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Montenegro, within their competencies, presented in more detail the current and future activities of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Montenegro. Military-diplomatic representatives expressed satisfaction with the achieved results, but also the belief that Montenegro, as a NATO member, will give even greater contribution to the regional prosperity and stability, as well as building global peace through its engagement in peacekeeping missions.

The meeting was attended by military-diplomatic representatives accredited in Montenegro on a resident and non-resident basis.
